Biography: Michael Felmingham born in 1935, Michael first taught at Leicester College of Art in 1962 and then Coventry College of Art where he remained for the next 21 years, until he resigned in order to devote himself entirely to painting. During the years of not painting Michael undertook numerous commissions and produced a variety of work from book illustrations to mural painting, notably at Portmeirion in North Wales for Sir Clough Williams-Ellis, where in 1969 he held his first one man exhibition. Since then he has had numerous sole exhibitions in London Galleries.
In 1974 he visited Venice, the light and architecture suited him perfectly and Venice has continued as a subject ever since. The winner of various prizes, his works are to be found in public and private collections here and abroad, notably the Bank of England, Allied Lyons, BAT, British Gas, The Herbert Gallery Coventry and Leamington Spa Art Gallery. He has exhibited at the Royal Academy, the Royal Watercolour Society and the RBA.
