Large 19th Century Landscape 'Harvesting' by Linnell. (England, c. 1877)
William Linnell (1826-1906) British. "Harvesting Scene", an Extensive Landscape, with Figures resting, Oil on Canvas, Signed, Inscribed 'Fecit', and Dated 1877, and Inscribed on a label on reverse.
Framed Size: 46" x 71".
William Linells Paintings were greatly admired, his earlier Landscapes were Italian Subjects, "Mountain Peasants on their way home", "Heights of Abruzzi" were among his best achievements.
When Linnell returned home in 1867 he exhibited his British landscapes at the Royal Academy where his reputation grew.
Later Academy admissions were "Leafy Month of June" and "The Hayfield" in 1877.
